The "Middle East" is a very general geographical term that is defined differently
by different groups of people. For our purposes, the Middle East Council of the
Carolinas defines the Middle East as the countries and cultures stretching from
Afghanistan in the East to Libya in the West, from Turkey in the North to Yemen
in the South. This includes the entire Arabian Peninsula, Iran, Egypt and Libya.
This very broad regional definition encompasses dozens of unique cultures, religions
and languages, but all of these groups are connected in some way through both history and current affairs.
